POST/projects/{slug}/environments/{environmentSlug}/duplicate

Copies an environment and all its variables, ciphertext included, into the same project in one transaction. Takes no request body. The copy is named <name> (Copy) (truncated to 50 characters) with a slug derived from that name and suffixed -2, -3, ... until free within the project, falling back to a random 6-character suffix after enough collisions. Needs both environments:write and variables:write. The per-project environment allowance is checked before any copying, so a 402/409 leaves nothing behind. Unlike the project duplicate route this is not blocked for project-restricted keys, because the copy stays inside a project the key already covers. exposed always comes back false on this response regardless of the source environment.

401Unauthorized

auth.api_key_required - the Authorization header is missing, or its value does not start with ev_sk_.
auth.api_key_not_found - the key is unknown, inactive or revoked.
auth.api_key_user_missing - the key is valid but its owner no longer exists.
auth.api_key_owner_not_member - the key's owner is no longer a member of the key's workspace.

402Payment Required

plan.upgrade_required - the project already holds its plan's environment allowance, or the project itself is locked. data carries { limit, current } in the allowance case.

403Forbidden

auth.scope_missing - the key lacks environments:write or variables:write.
auth.key_project_restricted - the project is not in the key's project allowlist.
auth.product_restricted - the project's product is private and the key owner holds no grant on it.
auth.workspace_two_factor_required - the workspace requires two-factor authentication and the key's owner has not turned it on.

404Not Found

project.not_found - no project matches in scope for this key.
environment.not_found - no environment with that slug lives in the project.

409Conflict

project.ambiguous_product - the project slug resolves to projects in more than one product; retry with ?product=<productSlug>.
plan.limit_reached - reserved for a plan whose environment allowance sits at or above the 1,000 fair-use cap. No current tier can trigger it: Free, Dev and Team fail with 402 plan.upgrade_required at their own allowance instead, and Enterprise is unlimited and never hits a plan limit. data carries { limit, current }.
project.not_found - the project was deleted while the environment was being duplicated.

500Internal Server Error

server.error - an unexpected error; retry with backoff.

503Service Unavailable

server.error - the API is in maintenance mode or is missing its configuration; retry with backoff.
